Major Flooding

Sri Lanka has suffered its worst climate disaster since the devastating 2004 tsunami. Hundreds have died and thousands left homeless. Unfortunately, Badowita has not escaped this, with the canals bursting their banks and flooding the neighbourhood.

Many within this community are day labourers and not able to travel to they jobs. Food is also difficult to locate right now as there has been panic buying and the shelves are empty.

Fortunately, our local team are working hard to source basic food and other essentials, to keep people fed.

However, we recognise there will be a need for other items in days and weeks to come as the recovery takes place, such as new mattresses and household items that have been damaged in the floods. Plus, clothing, including school

uniform and other essentials like books and stationary.
